If you’re into sound design you may be interested in Twisted Tools excellent Reaktor ensemble S-Layer.

S-Layer is not a new tool, it’s actually been around for a while.

From time to time I run across great videos in my personal research explorations and will be sharing them with you.  I already have Polyplex and love it and have recently been exploring the demo for Twisted Tools S-Layer. I have run across some great videos that have helped me learn more about this cool sound mangling tool and thought I’d share them with you.

S-LAYER is a sample layering sound creation tool for Reaktor 5 that allows you to create, edit and play new sound combinations.

It’s great to keep up on top of breaking news in the computer music and recording fields, but it’s also fun to learn more about things we do and the tools we use to get the job done.

Here are some more videos on S-Layer by Twisted Tools.

“S-Layer is perfect for creating complex drum sounds, impacts, whoosh and pass-by sounds.

By combining sounds from the included sample map or your existing sample library, S-LAYER facilitates the discovery of new oneshots, sound effects and loops from pre-existing sample content. Whether you’re looking for a new way to create thick drum samples for hip-hop or a massive impact sound effect for game, S-LAYER delivers.”

Oh and here is a video on setting up your own sample maps in S-Layer

If you create your own custom sample maps like I do it’s really easy to save your own sample maps in Reaktor 5 for use in other tools by “exporting” and saving the map from within Reaktor.

Reaktor is amazing. It’s my favorite music making tool.
