Msvcirt.dll file is linked to missing export msvcrt.dll : ??_u@yapaxi@z
After installing Rebirth on my Windows 98 SE computer I suddenly could not open Native Instruments Reaktor (and possibly other programs). It gave the following error message: "Msvcirt.dll file is linked to missing export msvcrt.dll : ??_u@yapaxi@z "
This was familair and I found a Microsft tech doc that had a solution (below). Only problem is that my System File checker dialog box it did NOT have the EXTRACT file option as the doc said it would... SO after research I finally figured out how to accomplish the same thing in 98 SE...
To extract system files from your installation disks...
Go to any folder and select HELP TOPICS from the help menu and then search for "extract files"
Double click "To extract system files from your install..." option and a window will open with a link to SYSTEM FILE CHECKER.
Select Extract one file from installation disk and one at a time enter the name of both of those files that need to be replaced... Msvcrt.dll and Msvcirt.dll... It'll walk you through it... In my case I had set up the system so that the installation disk was on my c drive so I did not have to insert the install cd-rom.
After replacing those 2 files and a restart everything worked for me....
